Lady Tre’s Year Wrap Up!

Hello New World,

10453376_10203973787575504_1122884582315844469_nWell……………Good bye 2014 and Hello 2015!

Yup!

For me, 2014 was an amazing year!

If there is one piece of advice I can give to you, it would be to follow your dreams! Regardless to whatever the odds may be or whomever thinks whatever, do it! This year, I traveled, made new connects, I’ve gotten more “in depth” in my chosen path, I made Manhattan my second home, and over all, I learned more about myself than I did before. In 2015, I need to make is much more amazing! I want to do way more in photography, in terms of fashion, and become more business savy, within the field.

January, other than the birth of me, was a proclamation month, for me. That month, brought me more into the studio. I believe I wrapped up my lighting classes, which gave me more confidence to be in the studio. It also introduced me to the goal of becoming a published photographer. That was a goal I was able to accomplish, twice!

20140326-101712.jpgFebruary,opened me up to what New York has in store for me! It showed me a world beyond the political rhetoric of DC. Spring was very interesting. It introduced me to more events. I did the “Get Radical” Women’s Conference and my first Bobbi Boss Hair Show, thanks to Ms. Alee of Dynamic PR. The summer lends itself more towards creativity. I did more themed shoots, such as “Candy Coated” and “Flashdance”. Also, in August, was the premiere issue of “Dame”, and the very first time I was published in a publication. It is still available through JooMag! I still remember when Sisqo sang in my phone! 20140702-182807-66487231.jpgThe fall, I was blessed enough to go backto NYC, twice. Once to be a participant in the Race for the Cure, NYC, and then to obtained a press pass for latin-fashion-week-galeria-expo-and-showroom-2012_239x200Latin Fashion Week. What a thrilling experiencefor me! I also had the opportunity to take a stylist course, through MShopNYC and did the Hair Games, which came to DC. Winter is wrapping up, for me, on a blessed note. I was able to get some rest, and life is settling down. Rest, seems to be something, now a days, I don’t get enough of and I am finally getting some of that! So, once again, not to sound like a broken record, but if you didn’t do it, in 2014, make it work in 2015.

See Ya in the New Year!

DC, Are You Ready? The Hair Games Review

150165_10205351887587143_1021390835517423317_nGood Morning New World,

So……………I finally have a break, coming!

Phew!

I am overly excited, to have nothing but rest, for a while. It seems as though it has been a while since I had a one of those. This, I think, would be good for me because I need to do so much, as far as catching up with friends, revamping the site, reorder and adding a new set to my business cards, new shoot ideas, etc..

So, okay…..you’re reading because you want to know about the Hair Games, right?!

This time, for this event, I brought my daughter to the show. She is starting out in photography and fashion, and I felt like this would be a good event for her to attend. Also, I wanted to show her that, with a proper education, along with set determination, you can attain your goals. I mean, granted, I’m not where I want to be, but the journey to the goal, has been great. I know, you are saying, “Wait, didn’t you learn photography, on your own?”. Yes I did, but my education in Multimedia catapulted me into Photography. I’m rambling off the subject. So, the show was great. Once again, Derek J was there with his vicious self. He had on an awesome pair of brown heels, judging the show. Also, this year, the show added Tre Majors, to the judging line up. He has done hair for Patti LaBelle and Aaliyah, to name a few. I must say, he is a very humble man. Also, the co founder of Dudley Q, Joe Dudley, had made an appearance, along with Ean Williams and Harvey “Star” Washington. The show performances were great. The stylist, that competed, were very talented. The styles were so amazing. The only problem was the lack of enthusiasm, from the crowd. I would say, the was a decent amount of enthusiasm, at the beginning of the show, then died towards the end. Great show, lacklustered audience. Here are a few images from the show.

Enjoy and TTYL!

MshopNYC Review

2-BECOME-A-StylistHey New World,

So, I am back, for a while, though. I just came back from NYC, and boy are my arms tired!

LOL! NO!

Seriously, I just came back a week ago, and I’m tired and sick. I brought you guys back a cold from NYC!

So, I wanted to give a huge shout out to Michelle. She was very informative and inspirational to me. She has styled for numerous celebrities, opened her own boutique, taught various informational workshops, and she is originally from DC. She understood that in order to become someone great, you need to be in an area of greatness. Michelle gave honest answer for all the questions I had. I think that, unfortunately, I may have put her in a position that can be confusing, because I wanted just styling ideas. The stylist class is definitely for business and breaking into the industry, when starting from scratch. She offered so many options, for me, professionally, that I did not think about. I appreciated that, greatly. There are sooooo many changes to be made. So with that being said, next year will offer me new changes. Website, once again, will be revamped. I want to add to my portfolio stylist work. I think I can do this. I have always loved putting pieces together, and this offers me that opportunity. Also, when I officially make that “Big Move”, I want to be able to have job options. I think this will allow me to do this. While doing the workshop, Michelle made mention about Karl Lagerfeld. I knew of him as the lead stylist for Chanel, and that was it. She stated that he is considered as a “creative genius”. When I got home, I looked him up, and she was correct. He is lead stylist, creative director, and photographer. After reading more, I realized I have researched my new idol! I only know a small handful of people, who are considered as “Jack of All Trades”, and I want to strive to be this, within the fashion industry. Needless to say, the trip was very inspirational and very productive. So, if you don’t know how to get your “foot in the door” in the industry, I would greatly recommend taking one of Michelle’s workshops. Also, MShopNYC offers so many other workshops, in addition to the stylist workshop. Check them out!

TTYL!
