DC Fashion Week Review

Hello New World,

Once again, I am a day behind, but love me or leave me.

Anywho, I just wrapped up DC Fashion Week, with my friend and fellow photographer, Leah Jones. My review on DC Fashion Week, for the spring season is going to be from an amateur photographer’s point of view. Each day, there were different show, and there was always something to do, and see. So, each day was a new day to shoot. I thought it was exciting because I have never shot a live runway show, before. So, needless to say, that I learned to keep my camera in auto mode, during this time. Not the best of advice, but hey, I am still a student. Anyway, I thought that the events went pretty well.

Also, the networking, this year, seemed more warm and open, than last year. If I am not mistaken, last year seemed as if you could not talk to anyone. This year, definitely felt different. Oh, and I have to put this out there. One model, that I am a huge fan of, I got a chance to meet him during the fashion show, at the Ukraine Embassy, Mr. Morris Gough. He is the man!

Now, on to the designers. Honestly, there were so many, that I just could not keep up. I will state that a few designers suck in my head. Elizabeth St. James designs, in my opinion, are very classic. I loved her work. The U of Taste line, is an urban staple, so needless to say, I loved it. Corjor International was a very classic couture. I loved that, as well. The Ukraine designers had me a bit confused. They had some pieces that I did enjoy, and they had some pieces that had me scratching my head.

So, I will continue to post pictures throughout the week, through my Flickr site. As usual, I want to post some links of some really cool people, that need to be checked out.

The New Nikon D800…….Damn, that is one sexy camera!

Hello to All,

Is this true?!

I was looking online for a new lens, for my Nikon D7000, and I saw that Nikon has a new camera out. Well, at least it is on the way. I just wanted to make sure that this wasn’t a mistake. Anyone that knows me knows that I am in a love affair with Nikon. Ever since we had been introduced, to each other, I have never strayed! I know, it is a beautiful thing!

Nikon has introduced a new addition to it’s DSLR series. The Nikon D800 is a 36.3-megapixel beauty, and successor to the Nikon D800E. So far, to my knowledge, has more mpixels than a Hasselblad, and we all know those cameras are a house note! The new Nikon is packed with features and at a price tag of $3,000.00, it better be!

Some of the features are:

36.3-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor
91,000-pixel RGB Matrix Metering System
Advanced scene recognition system
51-point AF system (15 cross-type sensors)
Multiple AF modes (e.g., normal, wide area, face tracking, and subject tracking)
Full HD 1080p video, with full manual control and uncompressed HDMI output
ISO 100 to 6400 (50 to 25600 expanded)
Shooting in different aspect ratios (e.g., 5:4)
In-camera High Dynamic Range (HDR) image capture
3.2-inch, 921,000-dot LCD monitor with automatic brightness control
HDMI port (8 bit, 4:2:2)
Dedicated headphone jack
Audio output level adjustment (30 steps)
High-fidelity audio recording control (levels set and monitored on LCD)
Stereo microphone jack
And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Personally, I would love to try out this camera. The amount of megapixels is enough to have me hooked. However, that price tag………………I think that I will wait a bit. Love a Nikon, but that price tag! Also, from my understanding, shipment for this camera doesn’t start until April 2012.

Anyway, TTYL!

DC Fashion Week, Returns!

Hello New World,

Well, I have been through a 32nd birthday, and storing ideas. With all that said, let us welcome in a new year with a new fashion venture.

What type of fashion venture?

Weeeelllll, I am glad you asked. DC Fashion Week starts February 20th- 26th. DC Fashion Week is a week long celebration of fashion design, shows, and events that showcases various artist. This is an international event, so don’t assume the fashion will be one sided. Also, this seems to be a semi annual event. So, if you miss it this time, which I recommend that you don’t do, the event may come back in the fall. The event is produced by Ean Williams, CEO of COJOR International. This man has produced DC Fashion Week, since 2004, and he has done an awesome job, so far.

I will, personally, state that I attended some of the events. I was very pleased and engaged in the shows. Also, the networking party, was off the chain. I have been looking forward to this, for a while, and I can’t wait until this year’s show, comes around. So, needless to say, this year, you will definitely will see me there.

Check out last year’s PUA show.
